CBB Player Updates from Jul 5-9

The player update post contains the biggest recent player news and does not currently require a CFU subscription.

The Core Four – four key updates

  1. UCF guard Ithiel Horton will transfer to Texas. Texas has also added Max Abmas, Kadin Shedrick, Chendall Weaver and Ze’Rik Onyema from the portal.
  2. The roster churn at West Virginia continued, as Jose Perez entered the portal despite never suiting up for the Mountaineers. Perez spent time at Gardner-Webb, Marquette and Manhattan before transferring to West Virginia, then having to sit out last season after being denied immediate eligibility. He averaged 18.9 ppg in his most recent season at Manhattan in ’21-22.
  3. Several former West Virginia big men found new schools, with James Okonkwo heading to North Carolina and Mohamed Wague choosing Alabama.
