CBB Injuries & Updates from Tues. January 19

On Tuesday Colin Castleton (Florida) did not play due to an ankle injury and Jaden Springer (Tennessee) was also out with a sprained ankle.

A number of players returned to action after missing time: Eli Brooks (Michigan), Brady Manek & Jalen Hill (Oklahoma), Kaosi Ezeagu (Kansas State), Eric Ayala (Maryland), Earl Timberlake & Kameron McGusty (Miami), Bryce Aiken (Seton Hall), Javian Davis (Miss State) & Shareef O’Neal (LSU).

Suffering apparent injuries on Tuesday were Myles Dread (Penn State) with a possible shoulder injury in the first half that he did not return from. De’Vion Harmon (Oklahoma) left the game in the second half with what appeared to be a right lower body injury but was revealed in postgame to just be intense cramps. Eric Dixon (Villanova) only played two minutes early then appeared to receive treatment with a device on his leg as he has been dealing with an Achilles injury.

In injury updates, Marcus Zegarowski (Creighton) will be a gametime decision Wednesday, Emmanuel Akot (Boise State) is hopeful to play Wed., while Justin Powell (Auburn) remains day to day in concussion protocol. Clarence Jackson & Craig Porter (Wichita State) should be available Thursday. Donovan Williams (Oklahoma State) will have season-ending knee surgery.

CBB Injuries & Updates from Mon. January 18

On Monday Greg Williams (St John’s) left the game with a back injury after only playing 6 minutes. Ryan Daly was out again but St Joe’s teammate Anthony Longpre returned to action. Scottie Barnes returned to action for Florida State, but teammate Anthony Polite was out with a shoulder injury. Tyon Grant-Foster did not play for Kansas due to a shoulder injury.

In injury updates, Eric Ayala (Maryland) and Brady Manek (Oklahoma) should play Tuesday, but Scottie Lewis (Florida), & Bryce Aiken (Seton Hall) will be out. For Ohio State CJ Walker will be out again and Jimmy Sotos is day to day, while for South Carolina Alanzo Frink & Jalyn McCreary‘s status is unclear for Tuesday. Caleb Daniels, Eric Dixon & Jermaine Samuels are expected to be available for Villanova on Tuesday. Terrence Clarke (Kentucky) will be out another week or so.

CBB Injuries & Updates from Sun. January 17

On Sunday Damion Baugh sat out for Memphis in concussion protocol, Anthony Holland (Fresno State) was out due to concussion protocol, and Zane Meeks (Nevada) was out due to a knee injury. Jamison Battle (George Washington) sat out again but Ty Perry returned to action for Fordham, and Carter Whitt returned for Wake Forest.

In injury updates, James Bouknight (UConn) is expected to be out with his elbow injury for around 4 weeks, Maceo Austin (Duquesne) has returned to the team after a personal leave of absence. Bryce Thompson (Kansas) reports he had successful surgery on his finger.

On Saturday notable players unexpectedly not playing were Eli Brooks (Michigan) with a foot injury, Spencer Jones (Stanford) with a hip injury, Earl Timberlake (Miami) with an arm injury, and Greg Brown, Kai Jones & Brock Cunningham (Texas), all covid-related.

Also sitting out included Matt Mitchell (San Diego State), Marcus Zegarowski (Creighton), Scottie Barnes (Florida State), Justin Powell (Auburn), Terrence Clarke (Kentucky), and Chris Lykes & Kam McGusty (Miami).

Notables returning to action after missing time were Justin Champagnie (Pitt), Herb Jones (Alabama, injured last game), Jahvon Quinerly (Alabama), Justin Smith (Arkansas), Remy Martin (Arizona State), Wynston Tabbs (Boston College), Bryce Golden & Chuck Harris (Butler), Antonio Gordon (Kansas State), Hunter Thompson (Wyoming), Hunter Tyson (Clemson), and Kuany Kuany (Cal).

Making season debuts were Anthony Harris (UNC, knee), Khalif Battle (Temple, transfer/hamstring), Jase Febres (Texas, knee), Luke Kasubke (Kansas State, injury) and Keon Edwards (DePaul, mid-season entry).

Alan Griffin (Syracuse) left the game early not feeling well but returned, and MJ Walker (Florida State) left briefly with an ankle injury but returned.

CBB Injuries & Updates from Fri. January 15

On Friday Cliff Omoruyi returned to action for Rutgers after missing close to a month with a knee injury, and Kenny Cooper got on the court for Western Kentucky after not playing the last two games. Tyler Wahl started in place of Nate Reuvers for Wisconsin, and Eric Ayala sat out again for Maryland.

In injury updates, Trent Frazier (Illinois) and Keeshawn Barthelemy (Colorado) are expected to play on Saturday, but Scottie Barnes (Florida State) may be a gametime decision. Amongst those less likely to play Saturday are Herb Jones & Jahvon Quinerly (Alabama, one writer used the phrase “on an emergency basis” for them), Justin Powell (Auburn) & Javian Davis (Miss State).

John Hugley (Pitt) is suspended indefinitely, while Isaih Moore (St John’s) has returned to practice after a suspension but his playing status has not been stated.

  • Matt Mitchell, San Diego State – had an MRI Friday, awaiting results, an article said he had experienced a little bit of swelling and he was unlikely to play Saturday but the team is optimistic for good results
  • Isaih Moore, St John’s – is back at practice, status TBD for Saturday (suspension)
  • Cliff Omoruyi, Rutgers – returned to action (knee) for the first time since Dec 20 – 3 pts/15 mins
  • Justin Powell, Auburn – is still day to day in concussion protocol, has yet to practice at full speed

On Thursday Darius Perry (UCF) did not play for undisclosed reasons, while Matt Bradley (Cal) and Bryce Wills (Stanford) remained out.

Matt Mitchell (San Diego State, 15.8 ppg) went down with a right knee injury in the second half and did not return to action.

Daejon Davis (Stanford), Armaan Franklin (Indiana), Ethan Anderson (USC) & Isaiah Adams (UCF) returned to action, Noah Williams (Washington State) and Branden Carlson (Utah) played after getting banged up in their previous games

In injury updates, Eric Ayala (Maryland) will not play Friday. Caleb Daniels & Eric Dixon (Villanova) did not practice Thursday but teammate Bryan Antoine returned to practice. Taeshon Cherry (Arizona State) will not travel for personal reasons, Brady Manek (Oklahoma) likely remains out and KyKy Tandy (Xavier) is questionable on Saturday.
