CFB Injury Updates from Saturday November 7

I break down the injury news from this past weekend with notes on each player who may have been dealing with injuries.

A few notes about this list, being on it does not for sure mean a player is “injured”, but rather:

  • They may have missed the game due to a known injury (ok, this does mean they are injured)
  • They may have gone out of the game due to injury and not returned (sometimes with an official announcement from the team)
  • They may have left the game but returned, or at least attempted to return (sometimes these guys end up banged up enough to miss future games)
  • They may have had a vague twitter mention about possibly being injured or leaving a game, so it’s something on my radar

I’ll continue to post any updates I see during the week, those will be added to daily updates as well as the injury database.

If you are aware of a fantasy-relevant injury from this weekend that you don’t see here (or don’t see listed in the database), or think anything shared here is incomplete, please tag me on twitter with a link and let me know, thanks!

List of Potential Injury News from Saturday Nov 7 (unless noted):

  • QB Trad Beatty, Temple – injured on a sack late in the 2nd quarter, he came back out for the second half in street clothes and in postgame was simply said to be “out”
  • QB Stetson Bennett, Georgia – went to the locker room in the first quarter but returned to action, was eventually replaced in the second half with what was described in postgame as an AC shoulder sprain
  • RB Max Borghi, Washington State – reports came out earlier in the day Saturday that Borghi would not play, with reporter sources saying it was a back injury suffered in practice
  • RB Isaiah Bowser, Northwestern – was announced in pregame to be out Saturday, reports from the broadcast were that he had a pectoral injury, with additional reports that the injury was not thought to be serious
  • RB LD Brown, Oklahoma State – pregame reports were that he would not play but he ended up getting game action (15 carries), in postgame it was said he did not practice much the previous week
  • RB Leddie Brown, West Virginia – in postgame was described as having gotten “dinged up” early in the game which may have limited his touches
  • RB Ty Chandler, Tennessee – had only one carry early in the game and was seen walking off awkwardly, in postgame it was shared that he has been playing through an ankle injury
  • WR Stefan Cobbs, Boise State – left the game in the 4th quarter on Friday night, appeared to get rolled up on
  • QB Jalon Daniels, Kansas – in the 4th quarter got knocked out of the game on a sack with a defender landing on his leg (after being sacked nine times). He was helped off the field putting no weight on his left side and in postgame Les Miles said Daniels told him “it was feeling better”.
  • WR Frank Darby, Arizona State – in the first quarter he went to the medical tent then locker room, was expected to be further evaluated at half but did not return to action, he was said to have an apparent abdomen/rib injury
  • QB Brett Gabbert, Miami (OH) – left the game in the 2nd quarter Wednesday night on a helmet to helmet hit, was helped off the field and the team announced mid-game he would not return. The backup QB AJ Mayer said Gabbert was alert at halftime and not in the “dark room”, but the team did not have an immediate postgame update. Gabbert is atop the depth chart coming into this week’s early game which is not necessarily an indication of his availability, but is better than being removed.
  • RB Frank Gore, Jr – Southern Miss – in postgame it was shared that he left the game early with turf toe
  • WR Dahu Green, Arkansas State – casually mentioned in a pregame injury tweet was news Green would be out for the season with a knee (PCL) injury
  • QB Jarrett Guarantano, Tennessee – was hit on a QB run in the 3rd quarter, went to the locker room and was shared by the broadcast to be out the rest of the game with a head injury
  • RB Rahjai Harris, East Carolina – in the 3rd quarter he walked to the locker room with medical staff, a beat writer clarified for me that he did return to the game
  • RB Khalil Herbert, Virginia Tech – left after the opening kickoff with a hamstring injury, in postgame it was shared that he had been dealing with a hamstring issue for a while leading up to the game
  • RB Chuba Hubbard, Oklahoma State – only had six carries and in postgame Mike Gundy shared that Hubbard had not practiced much the prior week
  • WR Calvin Jackson, Washington State – in the 3rd quarter needed to be helped off the field with an apparent leg injury, did not appear to return. On Sunday he tweeted that “I will be fine” which seems positive.
  • TE Brevin Jordan, Miami – earlier in the week was said to be healthy after dealing with a shoulder injury that caused him to miss time, but was a pre-game scratch on Friday night for what was reported to be covid-related reasons
  • RB Lopini Katoa, BYU – in the 4th quarter on Friday night he got bent awkwardly on a tackle and was helped off, some postgame reports suggested it may be a high ankle sprain
  • RB Wesley Kennedy, Georgia Southern – the team’s twitter reported he was sidelined with a mouth/tooth injury in the first half and was questionable to return, he was seen with an ice-pack on his face on the sideline.
  • RB JD King, Georgia Southern – the team announced in the 2nd quarter that he was out for the rest of the game with a left knee injury, and he was seen out of uniform on crutches
  • RB Kendall Milton, Georgia – went down in the third quarter and was taken to the locker room, in postgame it was shared he has a slight MCL sprain
  • WR Joshua Moore, Texas – in the fourth quarter he was said to be questionable to return, and in postgame it was shared that he has an AC shoulder sprain
  • TE Kyle Pitts, Florida – took a vicious targeting hit to the head in the 2nd quarter, went to the locker room and did not return to the game in what was assumed to be concussion protocol
  • RB Treyson Potts, Minnesota – in the 2nd quarter he was carted off the field with a lower leg injury and did not return
  • QB Spencer Rattler, Oklahoma – in the 2nd quarter was favoring his left hip/ribs area after a QB run, returned to the game but eventually gave way to Tanner Mordecai when the game was a blowout in the second half, in postgame he was said to be “a little sore” and have a bruise, and on a Sunday coach’s show described as “fine”
  • WR Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint, Georgia – was carted off in the first quarter with an air cast, was seen later in the game on the sideline with crutches and a cast
  • QB Anthony Russo, Temple – was said to be out leading up to the game, but when QB Trad Beatty was injured Russo suited up at halftime to be an emergency-only QB, he did not get into the game
  • QB Jack Sears, Boise State – starting in place of Hank Bachmeier on Friday night, he took what looked like a helmet to helmet hit on a QB run and went to the medical tent and locker room, he returned to the sideline but was not wearing his helmet and did not return to the game (Boise doesn’t offer in-game injury updates but concussion protocol seems likely)
  • RB Trey Sermon, Ohio State – left after a long run in the 4th quarter after his head appeared to hit the turf, he walked off and went to the injury tent. On Sunday a reporter source said that Sermon was fine and shouldn’t miss any time.
  • RB Isaiah Spiller, Texas A&M – limped off after a run in the 3rd quarter and went to the medical tent, it was shared in postgame that he was held out for precautionary reasons (in a blowout) and could have returned
  • QB Nick Starkel, San Jose State – got wrapped up on a tackle in the 1st quarter on Friday night and appeared to hit his head on the turf. He left the game for the medical tent then locker room, and returned to the sideline in the first half not in uniform in what was assumed to have been concussion protocol
  • TE Austin Stogner, Oklahoma – took a hit going over the middle on a catch in the second quarter, was looked at by trainers and seen trying to walk off an apparent leg injury on the sideline. He tried to come out for the second half but went back to the locker room again. On a Sunday coach’s show he was described as “fine”.
  • QB Jordan Travis, Florida State – apparently was injured (undisclosed) in the second quarter as James Blackman started the second half and Travis was later seen in street clothes on the sideline
  • QB Tevaka Tuioti, New Mexico – in the 4th quarter was hit on the head and left the game on an apparent helmet to helmet hit a on QB run in what one reporter thought was a likely concussion
  • WR Tylan Wallace, Oklahoma State – in pregame reports came out he had suffered a minor injury (tweaked muscle) in practice and would not play, he was seen warming up in pregame and apparently played one snap on the hands team for an onside kick (according to reporters) but otherwise did not play
  • RB Craig “Sqwirl” Williams, Baylor – injured his left leg in the 2nd quarter going down after a run and did not return. In postgame Dave Aranda said “the diagnosis is not promising”.

CFB Injury Updates from Saturday October 31

List of Potential Injury News from Saturday Oct. 31 (alphabetical by last name):

  • QB Jack Abraham, Southern Miss – after missing a game was back in action this week but left in the 2nd quarter after taking a hard hit at the end of a QB run and fumbling, he was seen sitting on the bench with a towel over his head and went to the locker room and did not return to the game. In postgame a coach quote was “I saw him after, and I think he is going to be fine.”
  • RB Tyler Allgeier, BYU – lost his helmet on a tackle in the first half, went to the medical tent and missed some time but eventually returned to action
  • QB Brennan Armstrong, Virginia – late in the fourth quarter he limped off the field with help after taking a hit on a QB run with a possible left leg injury, did not return. In postgame he was pictured leading locker room celebrations, so possibly a good sign.
  • QB Hank Bachmeier, Boise State – after not being seen warming up pregame it was shared that he had not traveled with the team and Jack Sears would start, there is speculation it could be covid-related but the team didn’t share further updates
  • QB KJ Costello, Mississippi State – took what appeared to be a knee to the helmet in the 2nd quarter and went to the locker room and did not return to the game, in postgame he was described as “still being checked out”
  • WR Sam Crawford, Tulsa – left the game in the 2nd quarter and went to the locker room, I don’t believe he returned (Friday)
  • QB Haaziq Daniels, Air Force – left in the first quarter after being hit at the end of a run with a possible left shoulder/collarbone injury, went to the locker room and did not return to action
  • QB Jalon Daniels, Kansas – in the fourth quarter he left the game limping off with what a reporter described in a postgame article as an ankle injury
  • TE Miller Forristall, Alabama – appeared to aggravate a shoulder injury in the 2nd half, described as “a little nicked up” in postgame
  • RB George Holani, Boise State – injured in the first quarter with a possible knee injury and did not return, a coach quote postgame said they “think he will be ok”
  • RB Keaontay Ingram, Texas – an injury in the first quarter sent him to the medical tent, was out the rest of the game, in postgame it was described as a sprained ankle
  • TE Beau Johnson, Georgia Southern – left the game in the first quarter with a left leg injury, was able to walk off but went to the medical tent and was announced to be out for the rest of the game, he was later seen with crutches and a boot on the sideline (Thursday)
  • RB Josh Johnson, Louisiana Monroe – suffered an apparent hamstring injury in the first half, was seen working with a trainer on the sideline but was not able to return
  • TE Jackson Lanam, Texas State – limped off the field with help after a short catch, was said in postgame that he will get an MRI
  • WR Riley Lees, Northwestern – in the first quarter appeared to be hurt after an incomplete pass and was later ruled out with an upper body injury, the team shared that he was injured in practice Thursday and tried to go Saturday, described as day to day
  • RB John Lovett, Baylor – injured in the first quarter after a possible shot to the head (?), he went to the locker room and did not return to action with what was described as an upper body injury
  • RB Jo’quavious Marks, Mississippi State – in the 4th quarter he was wrapped up on a tackle and his head appeared to hit the ground, was slowly walked to the locker room
  • TE Briley Moore, Kansas State – injured in the 2nd quarter, the team shared that his back locked up and they couldn’t get it loosened up, did not sound serious to a reporter
  • QB Brandon Peters, Illinois – there were some rumors of covid issues at the end of the week at Illinois and on Saturday morning the team revealed that Peters had tested positive and would be out 21 days in covid protocols
  • WR Alec Pierce, Cincinnati – left in the 2nd quarter with a possible left shoulder injury, went to the medical tent and locker room, was ruled out and seen with his arm in a sling on the sideline
  • QB Matt Robinson, Illinois – was a surprise starter with Brandon Peters out, but was injured in the first half with what may be a right ankle injury, he went to the locker room and was ruled out for the second half
  • QB Anthony Russo, Temple – did not practice last week due to an injury to his throwing shoulder last weekend, was described as a gametime decision by the team but did not suit up, in postgame the coach shared it is too soon to tell when he will be able to return
  • WR Jah’Marae Sheread, Texas State – did not play, in postgame it was shared he was injured in practice on Tuesday but is hopeful to play next week
  • WR Marquez Stevenson, Houston – in the first quarter he left the game limping and went to the locker room, he came back out to the sideline not in uniform with his left foot in a boot, he did get X-rays but the team had no immediate update
  • WR Tyquan Thornton, Baylor – there was a report that he was “dinged up” on a kickoff return and would be out the rest of the game
  • QB Gunnar Watson, Troy – after suffering an injury to his ribs area last weekend there was little comment from the team, but a reporter near the end of the week said a source said Watson was not expected to play which proved correct, Jacob Free had a big game as his replacement
  • WR Marlon Williams, UCF – in the first half he was down in the end zone after a pass but was able to walk off, he did miss some time but then returned to action
