CBB Injuries & Updates from Tues. February 2

On Tuesday sitting out were John Newman (Clemson) for disciplinary reasons, KJ Buffen (Ole Miss) for personal reasons, and Jerome Hunter (Indiana) did not dress for what sounded like disciplinary reasons (coach’s decision).

Notably sitting out again were Bryce Hamilton (UNLV), Gabe Brown (Michigan State), Sasha Stefanovic (Purdue), Justin Lewis (Marquette), Javan Johnson (Iowa State) and Ziaire Williams, Daejon Davis & Bryce Wills (Stanford).

Suffering injuries on Tuesday were Arkansas’ Desi Sills who left in the first half after taking a hard fall and came back out to the bench area with his shoulder wrapped. West Virginia’s Gabe Osabuohien was said to be questionable to return with a hip pointer but did return to game action.

Returning to action included Texas’ Courtney Ramey, Jericho Sims & Brock Cunningham, CJ Fredrick (Iowa), Solomon Young & Tre Jackson (Iowa State), & Trey Galloway (Indiana). Playing after injuries in their last games were Armaan Franklin (Indiana), Yves Pons (Tennessee) & Jaylin Williams (Arkansas).

In injury updates, Trae Hannibal (South Carolina) will play Wednesday, Greg Williams (St John’s) is a gametime decision Wednesday, Terrence Clarke (Kentucky) still sounds questionable, Savion Flagg (Texas A&M) missed practice with a back issue, and Fatts Russell (Rhode Island) is day to day going into Wednesday.

TJ Bamba (Washington State) is questionable for Thursday, Jules Bernard (UCLA) is practicing after missing time last game with a knee bruise, Xavier DuSell (Wyoming) is practicing after a back injury late last game, and Hameir Wright (Washington) is dealing with a thumb injury. Javan Johnson (Iowa State) and Gabe Brown (Michigan State) are expected to return Saturday (covid).

CBB Injuries & Updates from Mon. February 1

On Monday, for Miami Elijah Olaniyi returned and Isaiah Wong played after an ankle injury last game, Bubba Parham returned for Georgia Tech, Austin Reaves & Alondes Williams were out again for Oklahoma, and Josh Nickelberry‘s wrist injury kept him out for Louisville.

In injury updates, Courtney Ramey, Jericho Sims and Brock Cunningham should be available for Texas Tuesday. Jaylin Williams (Arkansas) is day to day with a knee injury, while for Indiana Trey Galloway sounds doubtful and Armaan Franklin may be questionable. CJ Fredrick (Iowa) is questionable for Tuesday, Justin Lewis (Marquette) is listed as doubtful, DJ Funderburk‘s (NC State) status is unclear for Wednesday, DaJuan Gordon (Kansas State) will miss time with a foot injury, and Justin Powell remains out for Auburn.

In longer term updates, Kerr Kriisa (Arizona) will finally be eligible to play Thursday, Will Richardson (Oregon) is not ready to return as he comes back from thumb surgery, Jordan Bruner (Alabama) is likely out another 2-4 weeks, and Tyrece Radford (Virginia Tech) has no timeline for return from his legal troubles.

CBB Injuries & Updates from Sun. January 31

On Sunday Quentin Grimes returned to action for Houston, Isaac Bonton returned for Washington State, and Zane Meeks was back for Nevada.

Justin Lewis (Marquette) sat out with a leg injury, DJ Funderburk (NC State) was out due to “university policy”, Bryce Hamilton (UNLV) sat with an ankle injury, and TJ Bamba (Washington State) was inactive with an illness.

Sitting out again on Sunday were Gabe Brown (Michigan State), Darius McNeill (SMU), Jimmy Sotos (Ohio State), Greg Williams (St John’s), and Bourama Sidibe (Syracuse).

In injury updates, Austin Reaves & Alondes Williams will not play again Monday for Oklahoma due to covid protocols (but Reaves is out due to contact tracing and should be available on Saturday), Bubba Parham (Georgia Tech) will play Monday, Gabe Brown (Michigan State) is likely out another week due to covid, and Bourama Sidibe (Syracuse) has a chance to play on Wednesday.

CBB Injuries & Updates from Sat. January 30

On Saturday unexpectedly sitting out were Austin Reaves & Alondes Williams (Oklahoma) for covid protocols, Charlie Moore (DePaul) with an elbow injury, Bubba Parham (Georgia Tech) for personal reasons, Levi Stockard (VCU) in concussion protocol and Colby Jones (Xavier) due to covid protocols.

Returning to action included Cade Cunningham (Oklahoma State), Sam Sessoms (Penn State), Jalen Coleman-Lands (Iowa State) and Cormac Ryan (Notre Dame).

Several players played after dealing with injuries in or since their last games, notably Jalen Carey & Jermaine Harris (Rhode Island), Justin Smith (Arkansas), KyKy Tandy (Xavier) & AJ Wilson (George Mason).

Bo Hodges (eligibility) and Christian David (knee) made their season debuts for Butler.

Suffering possible injuries were DaJuan Gordon (Kansas State) who left the game in the first half with a foot injury, KeShawn Curry (VCU) who limped off and returned to the bench with a walking boot, and Darius Days (LSU) went to the locker room with a knee injury and did not return.

Isaiah Wong (Miami) left the game near the end of the second half with a sprained ankle, Jaylin Williams (Arkansas) was limited after suffering a knee bruise, Yves Pons (Tennessee) turned an ankle late, Jules Bernard (UCLA) missed a good deal of time with a knee bruise but returned, and Xavier DuSell (Wyoming) sustained a back injury in the second half of the game.

In injury updates, Cade Cunningham (Oklahoma State) is expected to be available Saturday while teammate Ferron Flavors sounds questionable, and Jordan Bruner (Alabama) is still 2-3 weeks away from returning.

Sasha Stefanovic (Purdue) remains out the next two games. For Sunday games Jimmy Sotos (Ohio State) will be out again, Zane Meeks (Nevada) is expected to return to action, but Bryce Hamilton (UNLV) is questionable.

Anthony Holland (Fresno State) returned from concussion protocol, Deon Stroud (Fresno State) returned in the second half after sitting out last game, Joshua Langford (Michigan State) played after having covid, and Bennedict Mathurin (Arizona) played after an ankle injury last game.

Sitting out again included Ziaire Williams, Daejon Davis, & Bryce Wills (Stanford), Richard Washington (San Jose State) and Francisco Farabello (TCU).

In injury updates, Devon Daniels (NC State) is out for the season after tearing his ACL Wednesday night. On Tuesday Courtney Ramey & Jericho Sims were unavailable for Texas, and Jack Forrest was out for St Joseph’s. Remaining out were Ryan Daly (St Joe’s), Terrence Clarke (Kentucky), Brock Cunningham (Texas), and Justin Powell (Auburn).

Returning to action included Greg Brown & Kai Jones (Texas), Jaden Springer (Tennessee), James Rojas (Alabama), Anthony Longpre (St Joe’s) and William Douglas (SMU).

In injury updates, Gabe Brown (Michigan State) tested positive for covid, but teammate Joshua Langford may be available Thursday. Alanzo Frink is out for the season for medical reasons, but South Carolina teammate Jalyn McCreary should be available Wednesday. Kenny Foster (Wyoming) is out indefinitely with a knee injury.

Scottie Lewis (Florida) is questionable Wednesday, while Greg Williams (St John’s) and Myles Dread (Penn State) are gametime decisions. Andre Jackson (UConn) may be able to return Sunday or next week. Dhamir Cosby-Roundtree (Villanova) had surgery for a stress fracture and remains out, and Ian DuBose (Wake Forest) will be evaluated Wed. to see if he may be able to return.

CBB Injuries & Updates from Mon. January 25

On Monday Cade Cunningham sat out again but Oklahoma State teammate Rondel Walker returned to action. Iowa State was missing four starters, Jalen Coleman-Lands, Javan Johnson, Solomon Young & Tre Jackson, to covid protocols. Bryce Hamilton was back in action as he started for UNLV.

In in-game injuries, Arizona’s Bennedict Mathurin suffered a sprained ankle on Monday night and was not able to return, but x-rays were negative.

In injury (& other) updates, Tyrece Radford (Virginia Tech) was suspended indefinitely due to criminal charges, James Rojas (Alabama) is questionable for Tuesday, and Santiago Vescovi is fine but Jaden Springer remains questionable for Tennessee. Jared Bynum (Providence), Terrence Clarke (Kentucky), Jimmy Sotos (Ohio State) and Justin Powell (Auburn) all sound like they will continue to be out. JaKobe Coles (Butler) shared he will miss the rest of the season with a meniscus injury that he suffered several weeks ago.

CBB Injuries & Updates from Sun. January 24

On Sunday Fatts Russell was out with a core muscle injury for Rhode Island, Anthony Walker & Earl Timberlake were out with injuries for Miami, and East Carolina was missing numerous players for covid reasons, most notably JJ Miles & Tyrie Jackson.

Remaining sidelined were Trey Galloway for Indiana, Zane Meeks for Nevada, and Chris Lykes for Miami.

Matt Mitchell returned for San Diego State sooner than expected from a knee injury and Tristen Newton & Noah Farrakhan returned to action for East Carolina after missing time in early January before the team paused activities.

Tre Mitchell (UMass) injured his right shoulder late in the second half, was looked at by trainers, and ended up going to the locker room. Kenny Foster (Wyoming) appeared to bang knees with another player in the second half and did not return to the game.

In injury updates, Ryan Daly (St Joseph’s) will have his cast removed and his hand re-evaluated in the coming days.
