CBB Injuries & Updates from Mon. February 22

On Monday newly sitting out were Jamarius Burton (Texas Tech) with a toe tendon injury, and Isaiah Mobley (USC) with a strained calf muscle.

Returning to action was Isaac Likekele (Oklahoma State) after missing two games with foot issues.

In injury updates, Bones Hyland (VCU) is out Tuesday, Noah Fernandes & Tre Mitchell (UMass) are expected to play, Tomas Woldetensae (Virginia) will remain out Wednesday, Foster Loyer (Michigan State) is out again Tuesday, Josh Nickelberry (Louisville) is not expected to play Tuesday, Marcus Bagley (Arizona State) is a gametime decision Tuesday while teammates Josh Christopher sounds doubtful and Jalen Graham missed practice with a migraine.

Jalen Cone (Virginia Tech) and Greg Williams (St John’s) are probable for Tuesday, and for Utah Rylan Jones sounds doubtful for Thursday while Mikael Jantunen is quarantining after returning from playing with the national team of Finland, but unclear when he will Finnish quarantine (haha, terrible, I know).

  • Arizona StateMarcus Bagley (ankle) sounds like a gametime decision Tuesday, Josh Christopher (back) has no specific timetable for return, Jalen Graham did not practice Monday due to a migraine, Remy Martin was limited in practice due to soreness and Alonzo Verge was limited with a thigh bruise, Martin and Verge sound more like the team was just trying to manage their rest/workloads, but all should be monitored
  • Jamarius Burton, Texas Tech – DNP, toe tendon, day to day
  • Juwan Gary, Alabama – returned to practice, still questionable, b ut if not ready this week then should be next week (shoulder)
  • Bones Hyland, VCU – sprained foot, out Tuesday, day to day

  • Mikael Jantunen, Utah – is quarantining after returning from international play, team does not yet have timeline for return

  • UMass – everyone is back at practice and should be ready to go (except Dibaji Walker), meaning Tre Mitchell (shoulder), Noah Fernandes (wrist) & Javohn Garcia (eye) are expected to play Tuesday
  • Virginia TechTyrece Radford‘s status is still uncertain as he returns from suspension, Jalen Cone will play Tuesday (Tuesday morning update), has a splint for his ankle
  • Greg Williams, St John’s – has practiced & is expected to play Tues (back)
  • Tomas Woldetensae, Virginia – will be out again Wed. (contact tracing)

CBB Injuries & Updates from Sun. February 21

On Sunday newly sitting out were Butler’s Aaron Thompson (thumb, shoulder) and Bo Hodges (calf), Musa Jallow (Ohio State) with an ankle injury last game, Ralph Agee (San Jose State), Dieonte Miles (Xavier) with knee issues, and Matthew Moyer, Chase Paar & Sloan Seymour (George Washington) for undisclosed reasons after a long team pause (covid-related?).

Returning to action included Jamison Battle (George Washington), Michael Durr (South Florida), and Sam Mennenga, Luka Brajkovic & Nelson Boachie-Yiadom (Davidson).

Making season debuts were Daniel Ramsey (Xavier) after missing most of last season and all of this season so far with injuries and Walt McGrory (Wisconsin) after hip surgery.

Suffering in-game injuries were Darryl Morsell (Maryland) who left the game in the first half grabbing his shoulder, went to the locker room, and quickly returned to the game wearing a shoulder sleeve, then left again with 4 minutes left in the second half, in postgame it was confirmed it partially popped out twice and he will see a specialist. Dominick Welch (St Bonaventure) left the game in the first half with an ankle issue, was seen riding a bike on the sideline and was able to return to the game. Jacob Young (Rutgers) landed awkwardly on his leg and stayed down for a while in the final minute of the game.

Notables remaining out included Damian Dunn (Temple), Bryce Nze (Butler) Trevor Anderson (Wisconsin) and Bryan Griffin (Xavier).

In injury updates, after not playing today Trevor Anderson (Wisconsin) was called day to day, as was Dieonte Miles (Xavier). Bryan Griffin (Xavier) will be back next game.

CBB Injuries & Updates from Sat. February 20

On Saturday newly sitting out were Harlond Beverly (Miami) with a back injury, Clevon Brown (Vanderbilt) after dealing with a knee issue on Wednesday, Au’Diese Toney (Pitt) due to a concussion from a car accident, Joel Brown (Cal) with a lower leg injury, Anthony Longpre (St Joe’s) undisclosed, Foster Loyer (Michigan State) as expected to let his shoulder heal, and Tomas Woldetensae (Virginia) due to contact tracing.

Returning to action included Ryan Daly (St Joe’s), Jordan Bruner (Alabama), Jeremiah Tilmon (Missouri), Justin Minaya (South Carolina), Charlie Moore & Oscar Lopez (DePaul), Eric Williams (Oregon), Khadim Sy (Ole Miss), Anthony Harris (UNC), Maceo Austin (Duquesne), Aguek Arop (San Diego State), Ebenezer Dowuona (NC State), and Jermaine Hamlin (Illinois).

Malik Williams (Louisville) made his season debut after foot surgery.

Playing through injuries were Jordan Usher (Georgia Tech, ankle), Tyler Polley (UConn, knee), Cormac Ryan (Notre Dame, ankle), and Liam Robbins (Minnesota, ankle).

Suffering in-game injuries were Nah’ShonBones” Hyland (VCU) who had to be carried off the court with two minutes remaining in the second half with an apparent right ankle injury and did not return, was described as a sprained foot in postgame. Greg Williams (St John’s) missed much of the second half and in postgame it was shared he had encountered back issues again which limited him. Late in their game Louisville’s Dre Davis got banged up and was reported as having a thigh bruise. Leaving their games for a time but returning to action included Darius Days (LSU), and Michael Hughes (Duquesne).

Notables remaining out included Jermaine Couisnard (South Carolina), Josiah-Jordan James (Tennessee), Isaac Bonton & Ryan Rapp (Washington State), Thomas Allen (NC State), Javon Freeman-Liberty (DePaul), Mikael Jantunen & Rylan Jones (Utah), and Marcus Bagley & Josh Christopher (Arizona State).

In injury updates, Bryce Aiken (Seton Hall) was described in postgame today as out indefinitely, and Harlond Beverly (Miami) was listed as out indefinitely when he did not play due to a lingering back injury Saturday. On the St Joe’s broadcast Jack Forrest & Myles Douglas were said to be out for the season with leg injuries.

On Friday newly sitting out were usual starters Luka Brajkovic & Sam Mennenga for Davidson, unclear if this was just rest against a lower division opponent or something else (covid-related?) as they came off pause.

Notables remaining out included Rollie Worster (Utah State).

In injury updates, Jeremiah Tilmon (Missouri) will play Saturday, Liam Robbins (Minnesota) is hopeful for Saturday while teammate Gabe Kalscheur will be out 3-4 weeks after finger surgery, Chris Lykes (Miami) is out Saturday, Damian Dunn (Temple) will be a GTD Sunday, Jordan Bruner (Alabama) may be ready for Wednesday, Bryan Griffin (Xavier) is questionable for Sunday, and Francisco Farabello (TCU) is likely done for the season.

Returning to action included CJ Fredrick (Iowa), Quade Green (Washington), Ira Lee (Arizona), Oumar Ballo (Gonzaga), and Adam Seiko (San Diego State).

Fabian White (Houston) made his season debut after a torn ACL last May.

Suffering in-game injuries were Seth Towns (Ohio State) who went down in the second half with an apparent injury to the knee that he has had issues with, he did not return to the game but did come back out to the sideline. Leaving the game with apparent injuries but returning to action were Jamari Wheeler (Penn State, knee), Musa Jallow (Ohio State, ankle) and Cody Riley (UCLA, lower body).

Notables remaining out included Rylan Jones & Mikael Jantunen (Utah), Isaac Bonton (Washington State), Eric Williams (Oregon) and Jalen Hill (UCLA).

On Wednesday newly sitting out were Thomas Allen (NC State) with a lower leg injury suffered in practice, Gabe Kalscheur (Minnesota) with a broken finger on his shooting hand, Bryce Nze (Butler) with a groin injury, Anthony Harris (UNC) in concussion protocol, Michael Durr (South Florida) with knee tendinitis, Javon Freeman-Liberty (DePaul) in concussion protocol, Josiah-Jordan James (Tennessee) with a wrist injury, Devonaire Doutrive (Boise State) due to a dental emergency, Rollie Worster (Utah State) with a lower leg injury, and Jermaine Couisnard & Justin Minaya (South Carolina) with injuries suffered last game.

Returning to action included DaJuan Gordon (Kansas State), Isaiah Marin (New Mexico), and Caleb Christopher (Arizona State).

Playing through injuries were Braxton Beverly (NC State) who is dealing with back/hip issues, Derrick Walker (Nebraska) who did not feel well last game, Saquan Singleton (New Mexico) with knee issues, Rod Brown (New Mexico) with foot issues, and Liam Robbins (Minnesota) with an ankle injury.

Suffering apparent in-game injuries (most returned) were Aaron Thompson (Butler) who left the game after a hard fall in the second half, spent time on the sideline and returned to the game with his left hand wrapped, Bo Hodges (Butler) played in the first half but was limited to three second-half minutes due to a calf strain, Dawson Garcia (Marquette) left the game for the locker room in the first half but returned to action with what one report said was a possible non-shooting hand issue, and Clevon Brown (Vanderbilt) left the game in the first half and was tended to but checked back in, in the second half he came out wearing a right knee brace and played.

Notables remaining out included Marcus Bagley & Josh Christopher (Arizona State), Charlie Moore (DePaul), Justin Lewis (Marquette), & Bryce Aiken (Seton Hall).

In injury updates, Eric Williams (Oregon) is a GTD Thursday, Jabari Walker (Colorado) is not expected to return Thursday, Isaac Bonton (Washington State) status is up in the air, Quade Green (Washington) was described as day to day, and Shareef O’Neal (LSU) will have his foot examined by a specialist.

CBB Injuries & Updates from Tues. February 16

On Tuesday newly sitting out were Damian Dunn (Temple) who suffered a knee injury last game, and Jonathan Ned (Georgia) was out due to a death in the family.

Returning to action included James Bouknight (UConn), Rodney Chatman (Dayton), Ty Berry (Northwestern) and Osayi Osifo (Florida). Foster Loyer & Rocket Watts played through injury/illness for Michigan State, but Loyer couldn’t go after only two minutes of court time.

Suffering in-game injuries were Derrick Walker (Nebraska) who played 8 first half minutes, then in the second half was said to be questionable to return, and did not get back in the game, in postgame it was said he “wasn’t feeling well” and was held out.

Notables remaining out included Isaac Likekele (Oklahoma State), Jeremiah Tilmon (Missouri), Yuri Collins (Saint Louis), and Bryan Griffin (Xavier).

In injury updates, for Arizona State Marcus Bagley & Josh Christopher did not practice Tuesday but will travel for Wednesday, Liam Robbins (Minnesota) and DaJuan Gordon (Kansas State) are questionable for Wednesday, Jalen Hill (UCLA) is still not with the team for personal reasons, and South Carolina will be missing Jermaine Couisnard & Justin Minaya on Wednesday. Zach Harvey (Cincinnati) has opted out of the remainder of the season.

CBB Injuries & Updates from Mon. February 15

On Monday newly sitting out were Quade Green (Washington) with a non-covid illness, and Isaac Bonton (Washington State) after leaving the game with an ankle injury late in the second half of his last game.

Returning to action included Balsa Koprivica (Florida State) after missing last game with an ankle injury, Andrej Jakimovski (Washington State) after a groin injury and Kody Stattmann (Virginia) after an extended absence for medical reasons.

In injury updates, Jeremiah Tilmon (Missouri) will remain out on Tuesday, Yuri Collins (Saint Louis) is questionable for Tuesday, James Bouknight (UConn) will meet with his surgeon Monday night to see if he can return Tuesday, and Michigan State’s Rocket Watts should be available Tuesday but Foster Loyer is questionable.

In longer-term updates, Jalen Johnson (Duke) opted out of the rest of the season and will enter the NBA Draft, Wynston Tabbs (Boston College) is done for the season after violating school covid protocols, Earl Timberlake (Miami) will likely miss the rest of the season, Malik Williams (Louisville) has begun limited work in practice after his November foot surgery, and Aidan Igiehon (Louisville) will not be ready to return Wednesday.

Rocket Watts (Michigan State) played 10 minutes in the first half but the team announced he would not return for health & safety precautions after he had stomach issues.
