CBB Player Updates from Mon-Wed. Sept 6-8

With practices starting in the next month a number of injuries were shared the start of this week, the most high-profile being Allen Flanigan of Auburn who will be out 12-14 weeks after Achilles surgery. Flanigan started all 27 games for the Tigers last season and averaged 14.3 ppg, second on the team to Sharife Cooper.

Also suffering notable injuries were Nimari Burnett, a Texas Tech transfer now at Alabama, who will miss the season due to a knee injury, Seth Towns (Ohio State, 3.8 ppg) will be out 3-4 months after back surgery, and Tolu Smith (Miss State, 12.6 ppg) had a foot procedure but may not miss much time as he will reportedly be back in November.

Announcing transfer destinations were CJ Roberts (New Mexico State to Lamar), Christian Gray (Fresno State to Cal State Northridge), and Ed Oliver-Hampton (Hampton to South Carolina State).

CBB Player Updates from Wed-Sun. Sept 1-5

While there were not any notable new names in the transfer portal, announcing transfer destinations were Oscar Lopez (DePaul to Central Michigan), Addison Patterson (Nevada to Salt Lake CC), and Volodymyr Markovetskyy (Washington State to San Francisco).

Lopez actually first committed to Montana in May, then committed to Salt Lake Community College in June, before finally deciding on Central Michigan. Patterson began his career at Oregon, then transferred to Nevada but never played for the Wolfpack.

CBB Player Updates from Sat-Tues. Aug 28-31

A notable name in the transfer portal was Javan Johnson (Iowa State, 9.7 ppg). He started 18 of 21 game last season and averaged 29.6 minutes per game, third most on the team. Johnson would likely be considered the most high-impact transfer to enter the portal the entire month of August. Fletcher Abee (The Citadel, 12.4) also entered the portal.

CBB Player Updates from Wed-Fri. Aug 25-27

Announcing a transfer destination was Keith Williams (Cincinnati to Western Kentucky), Williams was arguably the most high-profile transfer remaining in the portal, and it feels like WKU brought him in fairly quietly. Also announcing were Alfred Hollins (Oregon State to UTEP) and Abdou Tsimbila (Penn State to Fordham).

Entering the transfer portal was Jackson Harlan (Western Kentucky, 0.7 ppg).

Notable names in the transfer portal included Andrew Platek (UNC, 3.7 ppg) and Cashius McNeilly (Texas A&M) appears to be back as he will reportedly not transfer to TCU as previously was shared.

In injury news, Pelle Larsson (Arizona, transfer from Utah) has a broken bone in his foot and his return for the start of the season is unclear, but Mekhi Mitchell (Rhode Island) is full-go after having knee surgery last season.

CBB Player Updates from Thur-Sun. Aug 12-15

Not a transfer commitment, but Andrej Jakimovski decided to withdraw from the portal and return to Washington State after committing to transfer to Loyola, Maryland.

Not a whole lot of updates from the end of this week, but Colorado and Indiana both were playing in different international exhibitions, so see a few details from those games below.

Injuries and Updates from Aug 12-15:

  • Colorado – played a series of exhibition games in Costa Rica – first game started Keeshawn Barthlemy, Jabari Walker, Evan Battey, Eli Parquet and Dominique Clifford. In the second game Barthelemy and Walker started again, joined by KJ Simpson, Luke O’Brien and Tristan da Silva. In the third game starting were Eli Parquet, Evan Battey, Julian Hammond, Lawson Lovering, and KJ Simpson.
  • Indiana Michael Durr, Anthony Leal and Logan Duncomb were not available to play Friday for an exhibition game in Bahamas, resting unspecified injuries – the starting five for the Friday game were Xavier Johnson, Parker Stewart, Miller Kopp, Race Thompson and Trayce Jackson-Davis. For game two on Sunday it was the same starting five, Michael Durr was again unavailable, Anthony Leal and Logan Duncomb warmed up but were again unavailable. Miller Kopp left the game limping and later had his right foot wrapped in ice, but postgame it did not seem like a big deal.
  • Tyson Jolly, Iona – SMU transfer received a waiver to be eligible this season
  • Carlos “Scooby” Johnson, Butler – is facing legal charges and is no longer listed on the team roster

  • Eddie Creal, St Bonaventure – transfers to Lindenwood (D2) – 0.9 ppg
