CFB Player Updates – Week of April 5-11

In QB updates, Anthony Brown (Oregon) and Luke Doty (South Carolina) are taking the first team spring reps, Taisun Phommachanh (Clemson) is confirmed to have torn his Achilles, Sean Chambers (Wyoming), Re-al Mitchell (Temple) & Ira Armstead (Virginia) are back to practicing this spring, & James Graham (Georgia Southern) is currently out for personal reasons.

In RB news, Tayvon Ruley (Temple) is out for spring practice, Sampson James (Indiana) is limited this spring, Markese Stepp (Nebraska) is out for the spring after undisclosed surgery, & Jalen Berger (Wisconsin) has been limited with a leg injury.

In WR & TE updates, Khalil Shakir (Boise State) has begun individual drills in practice, Khafre Brown (UNC) will be ready for summer workouts, CJ Yarbrough (Liberty) is reported to be done playing college football, Randle Jones (Temple) is fully healthy for the spring, Jermaine Burton (Georgia) is beginning to get more work after he hyperextended his knee, while Dominick Blaylock (Georgia) has been running on the side at practice as he works to return (ACL), & Bru McCoy (USC) should be back next week (hamstring).

CFB Player Updates – Week of March 29-April 4

In QB updates, Tommy DeVito (Syracuse) is full-go for the spring, Max Bortenschlager (FIU) is also good for the spring, Jayden de Laura (Washington State) is still suspended, and Jabari Laws (Army) is limited this spring. Taisun Phommachanh (Clemson) is feared to have torn his Achilles in the spring game.

In RB news, Sean Dollars (Oregon) will be out through the summer with a leg injury, but teammate CJ Verdell is full-go for spring, Ty Davis-Price (LSU) is back fully practicing, Mike Hollins (Virginia) has returned after opting out, and Juma Otoviano (Rice) is back in spring practice.

In WR & TE news, Khafre Brown (UNC) is out for the rest of spring practice with a lower body injury, Jermaine Burton (Georgia) suffered a hyperextended knee which will sideline him around 4-6 weeks, Demond Demas (Texas A&M) has been cleared to return from suspension, Bru McCoy (USC) missed time this week with a hamstring injury, TE Samuel Wheeler (Kansas State) is good to go for the spring but TE Jude Wolfe (USC) remains out for now.

Not on spring rosters were WR Lucas Bacon (Washington State), & Tennessee RB Carlin Fils-Aime & WR DeAngelo Gibbs.

CFB Player Updates – Week of March 22-28

In injury & other updates, QB Chandler Morris has not yet been released by Oklahoma to transfer to TCU, Indiana QB Dexter Williams tore his ACL, UTSA QB Frank Harris is ready to go this spring but teammate Lowell Narcisse is limited. Boise State QB Jack Sears is healthy, but Notre Dame QB Brendon Clark is limited this spring.

LSU RBs John Emery & Ty Davis-Price will be limited in spring, as will Maryland RB Peny Boone and WR Rakim Jarrett. Ole Miss RB Jerrion Ealy and Illinois RB Mike Epstein are out this spring, while Tulsa RB TK Wilkerson announced his career is over. SMU RB TJ McDaniel & WR Reggie Roberson are both progressing well from injuries but will not participate in spring practice.

Texas WR Jake Smith may have broken a foot in spring practice, while teammate WR Troy Omeire has returned but will be limited, WR George Pickens (Georgia) will need surgery after an ACL injury in spring practice, WR Emoryie Edwards (Fresno State) is back with the team after missing last season, TE Jalen Wydermyer (Texas A&M) is out for the spring after finger surgery while teammate WR Demond Demas is suspended, Notre Dame WR Kevin Austin is expected to miss the spring and Virginia Tech WR Jaden Payoute will miss the rest of spring but should be ready for fall.

In injury & other updates, Utah QB Charlie Brewer is atop the spring depth chart while teammate Cam Rising is out this spring, LSU QB Myles Brennan is 100%, Boise State RB George Holani says he is fully recovered from MCL injury, and Florida State QB Chubba Purdy will spend the rest of spring focused on rehab.

Penn State RB Noah Cain is hopeful for the second part of spring, South Carolina RB MarShawn Lloyd is on track for the fall, Georgia RB Kenny McIntosh is out with an elbow injury, Alabama WR John Metchie will be limited in spring practice, FIU WR Shemar Thornton is fully cleared for spring, Texas A&M WR Demond Demas was arrested on a marijuana charge, South Carolina WR Chad Terrell is back this spring, and Pitt TE Lucas Krull is 100%.

Entering the transfer portal were Kentucky WRs Bryce Oliver & Allen Dailey and Cal QB Spencer Brasch.
