CBB Injuries & Updates from Mon. March 15

In injury updates on Monday, Myles Tate (Butler) will need surgery for a torn ACL, for Richmond Blake Francis & Grant Golden were called gametime decisions for Wednesday, Jalen Wilson (Kansas) is reported to be out for the first round due to covid protocols, Jaylin Williams (Arkansas) has been cleared from covid protocols, and Ajare Sanni (UCSB) is day to day.

The notable transfer names entering the portal from more major conferences included Tre Mitchell (UMass), Al Durham (Indiana), David Collins (South Florida), Vince Cole (St John’s), Antonio Gordon (Kansas State), KyKy Tandy (Xavier), and Elijah Joiner (Tulsa).

Other impact transfer names entering the portal to highlight included Jamir Harris (American, 20.5 ppg), Ryan Bergersen (Central Arkansas, 16.9 ppg), Brevin Galloway (College of Charleston, 15.0 ppg), & Bryce McBride (Eastern Michigan, 13.7 ppg).

CFB Player Updates – Week of March 8-14

In injury & other updates, QB Devin Leary (NC State) is cleared for spring practice, QB Chase Cord (Boise State) is likely done with football after graduating this spring, QB Myles Brennan (LSU) is healthy for the spring, QB D’Eriq King (Miami) is progressing but is out for the spring, QB Matt Fink (USC) will not return in the fall, RB Jaylan Knighton (Miami) is full-go for spring, WR Khalil Shakir (Boise State) will be limited in spring after offseason surgery for a foot fracture, and TE Will Mallory (Miami) is out for the spring with a shoulder injury.

Entering the transfer portal was WR Tyrone Scott (Central Michigan).

Announcing transfer destinations were RB Andrew Clair (Bowling Green to Northwestern) WR Warren Thompson (Florida State to Arkansas), WR Puka Nacua (Washington to BYU) and WR Samson Nacua (Utah to BYU).

RB Isaiah Bowser (Northwestern) had previously announced he would transfer to Miami, Ohio, but he decommitted and re-opened his recruitment then committed to UCF.

CBB Injuries & Updates from Sun. March 14

On Sunday playing through injury was Keith Williams (Cincinnati), who started after an undisclosed injury kept him out of the second half of Saturday’s game.

Notables remaining out included Kyle Young (Ohio State), Josh Primo (Alabama) & KeShawn Curry (VCU).

In injury updates, Kadary Richmond (Syracuse) is dealing with knee tendinitis but should be full-strength by Friday, RJ Cole (UConn) has a mild concussion and is in protocol, John Fulkerson (Tennessee) had a procedure for his facial injuries and his status is uncertain, Abu Kigab (Boise State) will have surgery for a torn labrum (initial reports were rotator cuff), and Max Rice (Boise State) will need surgery for a broken bone in his foot.

The biggest transfer news of the day was Earl Timberlake (Miami) and Isaih Moore (St John’s) entering the transfer portal.

  • Kyle Young, Ohio State – DNP again (concussion), he was in the locker room postgame but team did not have a timeline on when he’ll be back, is being evaluated daily

CBB Injuries & Updates from Sat. March 13

On Saturday newly sitting out were Isaiah Livers (Michigan) with a stress fracture in his foot, John Fulkerson (Tennessee) due to facial injuries he sustained on Friday, Kyle Young (Ohio State) due to a concussion sustained on Friday, Josh Primo (Alabama) with a knee/MCL injury in Friday’s game, and Shereef Mitchell (Creighton) due to taking a shot to the head on Friday.

Playing through injuries were Bryce Williams (Oklahoma State) who was limited with stomach issues on Friday, Damion Baugh (Memphis) who left Friday’s game with an apparent injury, and Jose Alvarado (Georgia Tech) after dealing with a knee injury last game.

Suffering in-game injuries were Keith Williams (Cincinnati) who went to the locker room before halftime with an undisclosed injury, returned to the bench area midway through the second half and appeared to be crying with a towel over his head but did not return to the court, team had no postgame update.

Notables remaining out included Jaylin Williams (Arkansas) and Alex Lomax (Memphis).

In injury updates, Jaylin Williams (Arkansas, covid protocols) will be back for the NCAA tournament.

CBB Injuries & Updates from Fri. March 12

On Friday playing through injuries were Eli Brooks (Michigan), Charles Bassey (Western Kentucky), Joe Wieskamp (Iowa), and James Bouknight (UConn).

Newly sitting out were Jaden Seymour & Trevin Wade (Wichita State) due to covid protocols.

Returning to action included Josaphat Bilau (Wichita State), Aguek Arop (San Diego State), and Mike Saunders & David DeJulius (Cincinnati).

Suffering in-game injuries were Josh Primo (Alabama) who left the game in the second half carried off the court with an apparent knee injury, the team said he would not return, Kyle Young (Ohio State) took an elbow to the head and eventually took himself out of the game early in the second half, was looked at by training staff and did not return in what appeared to be concussion protocol, and John Fulkerson (Tennessee) left the game in the second half after taking two shots to head and the team announced he would not return and in postgame was said to be unlikely for Saturday.

In more in-game injuries, Xavier Pinson (Missouri) took a hard fall landing on his back/tailbone area near the end of the game and did not return, although did walk off on his own, RJ Cole (UConn) hit the floor hard in the middle of the second half, left the game with a cut on his head near his eye and went to the locker room, he will go through concussion protocol, and Damion Baugh (Memphis) went to the locker room after a scramble on the ground near the end of the second half and did not return.

On Thursday newly sitting out were Isaih Moore (St John’s) due to covid protocols, Bryce Aiken (Seton Hall) due to knee issues, David McCormack & Tristan Enaruna (Kansas) due to covid protocols, Abu Kigab (Boise State) with a shoulder injury from his last game, Jarred Hyder (Cal) after a lower body injury in Wednesday night’s game, and Keyshawn Bryant (South Carolina) as a coach’s decision (not disciplinary).

Returning to action included Cade Cunningham & Isaac Likekele (Oklahoma State), Damian Dunn (Temple), Caleb Murphy (South Florida), Terrence Clarke (Kentucky), Tre Mann (Florida), Johnny Juzang (UCLA), Armaan Franklin (Indiana), Bitumba Baruti (East Carolina), Brandon Mahan & CJ Walker (UCF), Garrison Brooks (UNC), Brock Miller (Utah State), and Isaiah White (USC).

Making his season debut was Sage Tolbert (Temple).

Suffering in-game injuries were Kimani Lawrence (Arizona State) who left the game in the second half grabbing his leg/hamstring area and was helped off the court, he returned to the bench but the team announced he would not return, Jose Alvarado (Georgia Tech) went to the locker room after banging knees in the first half, returned to action in the second half, and Damien Jefferson & Alex O’Connell (Creighton) both went down for a while and left the game after banging heads but were able to return.

Additional in-game injuries were Myles Tate (Butler) who left in the second half with a left leg injury, team announced he would not return to the game, Andrew Garcia & Tye Fagan (Georgia) both appeared to suffer apparent lower body/ankle injuries on the same second half play, Charles Bassey (Western Kentucky) aggravated a previous back injury, and James Bouknight (UConn) had to be carried to the locker room in the second half with cramps.

Notables remaining out included Alexis Yetna (South Florida), Liam Robbins (Minnesota), Zane Meeks (Nevada), Jalen Cone (Virginia Tech), Rylan Jones (Utah), Oscar Lopez (DePaul), Josh Christopher & Marcus Bagley (Arizona State), Seventh Woods & Jermaine Couisnard (South Carolina), and Jamarius Burton (Texas Tech).

CBB Injuries & Updates from Wed. March 10

On Wednesday newly sitting out were Garrison Brooks (UNC) who dressed but did not play due to an ankle injury, Ziaire Williams (Stanford) did not play due to a family funeral, Jose Perez (Marquette) did not travel for personal reasons, and TJ Bamba (Washington State) was a late scratch due to being banged up.

Returning to action included Ralph Agee (San Jose State), Isaac Bonton (Washington State), Rasir Bolton (Iowa State), Bo Hodges (Butler), Eoin Nelson (Wyoming), Josh Nickelberry (Louisville), Carlton Linguard (Kansas State), Javon Freeman-Liberty & Nick Ongenda (DePaul), and Oscar da Silva, Bryce Wills & Daejon Davis (Stanford).

Playing through injuries were Chris Osten (Arizona State), Bryce Nze (Butler), Kadary Richmond (Syracuse) and Brandon Johnson & Both Gach (Minnesota).

Suffering possible in-game injuries were Zach Freemantle (Xavier) who left the game in the second half limping off the court but was able to return to action, and Jarred Hyder (Cal) went down with an apparent ankle injury near the end of the second half, he was able to walk/limp off on his own.

Notables remaining out included Bayron Matos, Valdir Manuel & Rod Brown (New Mexico), Josh Christopher & Marcus Bagley (Arizona State), Rylan Jones (Utah), and Oscar Lopez (DePaul).

Joe Wieskamp (Iowa) is day to day, for Kansas David McCormack & Tristan Enaruna will miss the Big 12 tournament, Oscar da Silva (Stanford) remains day to day while teammates Daejon Davis & Bryce Wills are available, Johnny Juzang (UCLA) is hopeful for Thursday, Isaac Bonton (Washington State) is expected to be available, for Arizona State Josh Christopher & Marcus Bagley are not expected to play, and for Oklahoma State both Cade Cunningham & Isaac Likekele are expected to play Thursday.

In injury updates, USC QB Kedon Slovis‘ shoulder injury has healed, QB McKenzie Milton (Florida State) is cleared for spring practice as is teammate QB Chubba Purdy, Kansas State QB Skylar Thompson is cleared for non-contact spring practice, RB Leonard Parker (South Florida) tore his ACL & MCL in spring practice, WR Jyaire Shorter (North Texas) has fully recovered from his fall leg injury, and TE Jordan Wilson (Florida State) will be limited this spring.
