CFB Injury Updates from Sat December 12

I break down the injury news from this past weekend with notes on each player who may have been dealing with injuries.

A few notes about this list, being on it does not for sure mean a player is “injured”, but rather:

  • They may have missed the game due to a known injury (ok, this does mean they are injured)
  • They may have gone out of the game due to injury and not returned (sometimes with an official announcement from the team)
  • They may have left the game but returned, or at least attempted to return (sometimes these guys end up banged up enough to miss future games)
  • They may have had a vague twitter mention about possibly being injured or leaving a game, so it’s something on my radar

I’ll continue to post any updates I see during the week, those will be added to daily updates as well as the injury database.

If you are aware of a fantasy-relevant injury from this weekend that you don’t see here (or don’t see listed in the database), or think anything shared here is incomplete, please tag me on twitter with a link and let me know, thanks!

List of Potential Injury News from Sat Dec 12 (unless noted):

  • RB Tyler Allgeier, BYU – did not play for what was described as an illness, in postgame it was said “he’s not hurt, just wasn’t able to play in the game”, so sounds covid-related
  • QB Luke Anthony, Louisiana Tech – carted off the field in the 4th quarter with a bad leg injury, in postgame it was said he would stay in the Dallas-Fort Worth area (game was at TCU) to have surgery
  • QB Charlie Brewer, Baylor – in the 3rd quarter he went to the locker room, in postgame it was said to be a shoulder injury that kept him out, on Sunday he announced he would grad transfer
  • QB Chase Brice, Duke – in the 3rd quarter he took a hit, possibly to the head, on a play that led to a fumble, he was taken to the locker room and did not return to the game
  • QB Doug Brumfield, UNLV – left the game after appearing to suffer a possible right arm/shoulder injury trying to make a tackle after he fumbled
  • WR Boobie Curry, Arizona – went to the medical tent in the 1st quarter Friday and did not appear to return to the game
  • RB Tyrion Davis-Price, LSU – went to the locker room with an undisclosed injury and did not return to the game
  • RB Teon Dollard, Akron – was seen on the sideline with a boot on his left leg after getting only 7 carries Saturday
  • TE Sean Dykes, Memphis – in the 2nd quarter he went to the locker room, later in the game he was seen sitting on the sideline without his helmet
  • RB John Emery, LSU – in the 3rd quarter he was seen in a lot of pain being attended to by trainers, possibly working on his shoulder
  • RB Devyn Ford, Penn State – warmed up but did not play, in a blanket quote (FWIW) it was said that everyone who was at the game but didn’t play had been banged up in the Rutgers game
  • RB Jake Funk, Maryland – in postgame it was shared that a shoulder sprain kept him out of the 4th quarter and OT, “he says he’ll be fine”
  • RB Frank Gore, Southern Miss – on Thursday in the 4th quarter he was on the sideline with a towel over his head after walking off the field slowly earlier in the game
  • QB Gavin Hardison, UTEP – did not play Friday for covid-related reasons
  • RB George Holani, Boise State – after just a few carries in a backup role (as he attempted to return to action) he left the game in the 3rd quarter and was seen on the sideline with his left knee wrapped
  • RB Mohamed Ibrahim, Minnesota – was in and out of the game on Saturday, sometimes getting work with trainers on the sideline, dealing with what was described as left pectoral issues
  • RB Jermar Jefferson, Oregon State – was in and out of the game in the second half, at times getting his lower body worked on and seen walking on the sideline trying to work/test himself out
  • QB KJ Jefferson, Arkansas – in the 3rd quarter his left knee appeared to be injured on a tackle, in postgame was said he will get an MRI
  • QB JoVoni Johnson, Rice – left the game in the 4th quarter and went to the medical tent with an apparent left leg injury

  • TE Kyle Pitts, Florida – after warming up was a late scratch with a “lingering injury”, I saw at least one reporter speculating they were just resting him as a precaution, which obviously didn’t work out well
  • QB Jeff Sims, Georgia Tech – had to be helped off the field in the 4th quarter and was replaced at QB, (my speculation) this injury may be in part what caused GT to cancel their Dec 19th game
  • WR Ihmir Smith-Marsette – attempted a front flip on a TD catch as he went into the end zone and landed awkwardly on his ankle, left the game and came back out with a boot on his foot, in postgame he said he was ok

  • QB Taulia Tagovailoa, Maryland – was announced in pregame he would not play, reportedly for covid-related reasons

  • QB Gunnar Watson, Troy – was knocked out of the game on a big hit in the 4th quarter that apparently knocked off his helmet
