Declaring for the NFL Draft were Ohio State RB Trey Sermon, Wisconsin RB Garrett Groshek and Alabama TE Carl Tucker.

Announcing they would return next season included Baylor WR Tyquan Thornton.

CBB Injuries & Updates from Sat. January 16

On Saturday notable players unexpectedly not playing were Eli Brooks (Michigan) with a foot injury, Spencer Jones (Stanford) with a hip injury, Earl Timberlake (Miami) with an arm injury, and Greg Brown, Kai Jones & Brock Cunningham (Texas), all covid-related.

Also sitting out included Matt Mitchell (San Diego State), Marcus Zegarowski (Creighton), Scottie Barnes (Florida State), Justin Powell (Auburn), Terrence Clarke (Kentucky), and Chris Lykes & Kam McGusty (Miami).

Notables returning to action after missing time were Justin Champagnie (Pitt), Herb Jones (Alabama, injured last game), Jahvon Quinerly (Alabama), Justin Smith (Arkansas), Remy Martin (Arizona State), Wynston Tabbs (Boston College), Bryce Golden & Chuck Harris (Butler), Antonio Gordon (Kansas State), Hunter Thompson (Wyoming), Hunter Tyson (Clemson), and Kuany Kuany (Cal).

Alan Griffin (Syracuse) left the game early not feeling well but returned, and MJ Walker (Florida State) left briefly with an ankle injury but returned.

In injury updates, Marvin Coleman (UNLV) is out for the season with a stress fracture in his leg, Tyrin Lawrence (Vanderbilt) is out for the season with a torn ACL, Joshua Langford (Michigan State) tested positive for covid, and Carter Whitt (Wake Forest) remains day to day with an ankle injury.

CBB Injuries & Updates from Fri. January 15

On Friday Cliff Omoruyi returned to action for Rutgers after missing close to a month with a knee injury, and Kenny Cooper got on the court for Western Kentucky after not playing the last two games. Tyler Wahl started in place of Nate Reuvers for Wisconsin, and Eric Ayala sat out again for Maryland.

In injury updates, Trent Frazier (Illinois) and Keeshawn Barthelemy (Colorado) are expected to play on Saturday, but Scottie Barnes (Florida State) may be a gametime decision. Amongst those less likely to play Saturday are Herb Jones & Jahvon Quinerly (Alabama, one writer used the phrase “on an emergency basis” for them), Justin Powell (Auburn) & Javian Davis (Miss State).

John Hugley (Pitt) is suspended indefinitely, while Isaih Moore (St John’s) has returned to practice after a suspension but his playing status has not been stated.

On Thursday Darius Perry (UCF) did not play for undisclosed reasons, while Matt Bradley (Cal) and Bryce Wills (Stanford) remained out.

Matt Mitchell (San Diego State, 15.8 ppg) went down with a right knee injury in the second half and did not return to action.

CBB Injuries & Updates from Wed. January 13

On Wednesday Jamison Battle (George Washington, 18.4 ppg) did not play due to a concussion suffered in practice, Manny Bates (NC State) was out with an ankle injury, Carter Whitt (Wake Forest) was in a walking boot, Hunter Thompson (Wyoming) was out after dealing with an ankle injury, Cairo McCrory (UMass) did not play for undisclosed reasons, Chris Moore (Auburn) was out with a sprained wrist.

Cam Thomas (LSU) started after being a GTD with an ankle injury, Derrick Alston (Boise State) started after getting banged up last game, Casey Morsell (Virginia) returned to action after being out for covid reasons, & RJ Blakney was back for Dayton.

KD Johnson (Georgia) made his season debut after eligibility issues and had 21 points off the bench, while Charles Minlend (Louisville) made his debut after a knee injury.

In Wednesday in-game injuries, Scottie Barnes (Florida State) left the game in the second half with a turned ankle. Craig Porter (Wichita State) suffered a knee injury and was held out the rest of the game as a precaution.

In injury updates, James Bouknight (UConn) is out indefinitely after having elbow surgery. Jordan Bruner (Alabama) is out indefinitely after undergoing a procedure for a meniscus injury. Herb Jones (Alabama) is reportedly hoped to only be out a game or two with a finger injury. Keith McGee (New Mexico) opted out of the rest of the season.

Armaan Franklin (Indiana) is a gametime decision Thursday while Noah Williams (Washington State) is questionable. Marcus Zegarowski (Creighton) was described as day to day, and Cliff Omoruyi (Rutgers) has begun doing limited work in practice. Dallas Walton is out Thursday for Colorado, but teammate is Keeshawn Barthelemy is a GTD. Branden Carlson (Utah) expects to play Thursday.

Declaring for the NFL Draft was Nebraska RB Dedrick Mills.

Notable players entering the transfer portal were Florida State QB James Blackman and New Mexico WR Jordan Kress, but announcing he would return next season was Cal RB Marcel Dancy.

Announcing transfer destinations were RB Johnny Ford (USF to FAU), RB Ty Chandler (Tennessee to North Carolina), RB Markese Stepp (USC to Nebraska), and WR Charleston Rambo (Oklahoma to Miami).

CBB Injuries & Updates from Tues. January 12

On Tuesday players unexpectedly not in action included Scottie Lewis (Florida) for covid-related reasons, Chuck Harris (Butler) with a knee bone bruise, Wynston Tabbs (Boston College, undisclosed), Francisco Farabello (TCU) with a calf injury, and Isaih Moore (St John’s) for disciplinary reasons.

Suffering possible injuries on Tuesday were Bryce Golden (Butler) with an ankle injury in the second half, Matt Murrell (Ole Miss) who was looked at by a trainer and only played two minutes, Herb Jones (Alabama) left the game in the first half with a finger injury while teammate Jordan Bruner left in the second half with a knee injury. Bryce Thompson (Kansas) suffered a broken finger in the second half and will miss time, while teammate Tyon Grant-Foster injured his shoulder but it was not thought to be serious.

Players remaining out again included Chris Lykes & Kam McGusty (Miami), Brady Manek (Oklahoma), Terrence Clarke (Kentucky), Jahvon Quinerly (Alabama) and Ryan Daly (St Joe’s).

Returning to action after missing time were Jalen Johnson (Duke), Austin Davis (Michigan), Steffon Mitchell (Boston College), Marvin Coleman (UNLV), and Bryce Thompson (Kansas).

In injury updates, Remy Martin, Taeshon Cherry & Jaelen House should all have returned to practice for Arizona State by Wednesday. RJ Blakney is back at practice for Dayton and Cam Thomas (LSU) is a gametime decision for Wednesday. For Ohio State, CJ Walker remains out, and Jimmy Sotos status is up in the air for Wednesday. Justin Powell remains day to day for Auburn, and Wyatt Lowell (BYU) is out for the season with a torn Achilles.
