CBB Injuries & Updates from Wed. January 6
On Wednesday Pitt and Virginia had players out due to covid-protocols, most notably Nike Sibande & Casey Morsell, and Bourama Sidibe (Syracuse) was not ready to return after knee surgery. Amongst players suffering injuries last game, Makai Ashton-Langford (Boston College) and Justin Powell (Auburn) sat out Wednesday, but Jaden Springer (Tennessee) was able to play.
Seton Hall’s Bryce Aiken suffered a sprained ankle after stepping on another player’s foot and was ruled out for the game. Ben Stanley (Xavier) left the game after an apparent knee injury and went to the locker room but did return to the sideline and gave a thumbs up to the coach, but did not re-enter the game.
Returning to action after missing time were Aaron Thompson (Butler) and Au’Diese Toney (Pitt). Remaining out included Jalen Johnson (Duke), Ryan Daly (St Joe’s), and Charles Minlend (Louisville).
In injury updates, Rodney Chatman (Dayton) will be out 6-8 weeks after hand surgery, Jared Bynum (Providence) is day to day with a groin strain, and Darryl Morsell (Maryland) was cleared to play Thursday.

On Tuesday Jahvon Quinerly (Alabama) was unavailable with a “medical condition”, Braxton Beverly (NC State) was out with an ankle injury, Kameron McGusty (Miami) was out with a hamstring injury, and Marcus Garrett (Kansas) was not able to go after a head injury last game. Javian Davis (Miss State) did not play and will be out the next 10 days (covid-related).
For in-game injuries, James Bouknight (UConn) appeared to suffer an elbow injury on Tuesday, but was able to return to the game. Geo Baker (Rutgers) appeared to roll his ankle and went to the locker room near the end of the game.
Manny Bates (NC State) started after dealing with a leg injury from the previous game and Elijah Weaver (Dayton) returned to action. Notable players sitting out again included Terrence Clarke (Kentucky), Chris Lykes (Miami), & Rodney Chatman (Dayton).
