CFB Player Updates – Week of March 8-14

In injury & other updates, QB Devin Leary (NC State) is cleared for spring practice, QB Chase Cord (Boise State) is likely done with football after graduating this spring, QB Myles Brennan (LSU) is healthy for the spring, QB D’Eriq King (Miami) is progressing but is out for the spring, QB Matt Fink (USC) will not return in the fall, RB Jaylan Knighton (Miami) is full-go for spring, WR Khalil Shakir (Boise State) will be limited in spring after offseason surgery for a foot fracture, and TE Will Mallory (Miami) is out for the spring with a shoulder injury.

Entering the transfer portal was WR Tyrone Scott (Central Michigan).

Announcing transfer destinations were RB Andrew Clair (Bowling Green to Northwestern) WR Warren Thompson (Florida State to Arkansas), WR Puka Nacua (Washington to BYU) and WR Samson Nacua (Utah to BYU).

RB Isaiah Bowser (Northwestern) had previously announced he would transfer to Miami, Ohio, but he decommitted and re-opened his recruitment then committed to UCF.

In injury updates, USC QB Kedon Slovis‘ shoulder injury has healed, QB McKenzie Milton (Florida State) is cleared for spring practice as is teammate QB Chubba Purdy, Kansas State QB Skylar Thompson is cleared for non-contact spring practice, RB Leonard Parker (South Florida) tore his ACL & MCL in spring practice, WR Jyaire Shorter (North Texas) has fully recovered from his fall leg injury, and TE Jordan Wilson (Florida State) will be limited this spring.

Entering the transfer portal were WR Melquise Stovall (Hawaii), WR Puka Nacua (Washington), QB Jaden Casey (Cal), QB Alec Trujillo (San Jose State), and QB Michael Lindauer (Cincinnati).

Announcing transfer destinations were RB Jared Cole (UMass to Virginia Tech), WR Jayden Harrison (Vanderbilt to Marshall), WR Micah Jones (Notre Dame to Illinois State), WR Malik Murray (Georgia Southern to ETSU), and QB Cale Millen (Oregon to Northern Arizona).

CFB Player Updates – Week of February 22-28

More notable players entering the transfer portal were Oklahoma WR Theo Howard, Colorado State WR Nate Craig-Myers, Utah WR Samson Nacua, Minnesota Flex TE Seth Green, and Vanderbilt RB Keyon Henry-Brooks. LSU TE Arik Gilbert decommitted from transferring to Florida and will re-enter the portal.

Announcing transfer destinations were QB Luke McCaffrey (Nebraska to Louisville), QB Tyler Shough (Oregon to Texas Tech), QB Alan Bowman (Texas Tech to Michigan), RB Mark-Antony Richards (Auburn to UCF), WR Nate Craig-Myers (Colorado State to UCF), and TE Jacob Mathis (South Florida to Louisiana-Monroe).

In injury & other updates, Indiana QB Michael Penix will be limited in spring practice (ACL) but is on track for the fall, QB Todd Centeio (Colorado State) goes into spring as QB1, O’Maury Samuels (New Mexico State) will remain sidelined with a groin injury, WR Justyn Ross (Clemson) is practicing but limited to non-contact work right now, for Missouri WR Jalen Knox & TE Niko Hea had surgery and will miss spring practice, and TE Ryan Jones (East Carolina) has been suspended indefinitely after a DWI.

Announcing transfer destinations were WR Bryan Thompson (Utah to Arizona State), and TE Aaron Jarman (Temple to East Carolina).

Declaring for the NFL Draft was Air Force QB Donald Hammond.

Announcing they would return next season were UTSA teammates RB BJ Daniels and TE Leroy Watson.

In injury & other updates, Rutgers QB Noah Vedral hopes to be full-go for spring practice, Purdue QB Aidan O’Connell will be limited this spring after foot surgery, South Alabama RB Carlos Davis was suspended indefinitely after an arrest for drug-related charges, New Mexico State RB O’Maury Samuels is dealing with an injury and did not dress for Feb 21 game, and Liberty WR CJ Yarbrough has opted out of spring practice and is reportedly no longer with the team.
