CBB Injuries & Updates from Sun. February 28

On Sunday newly sitting out were Jack Nunge (Iowa) with a season-ending knee injury last game, Xavier Johnson (Pitt) who is transferring, Christian David (Butler) with a knee injury, Alex Lomax (Memphis) with an ankle injury, Josh Anderson (Western Kentucky) with an ankle injury, Alexis Yetna (South Florida) after an ankle injury last game, and Michael Durr (South Florida) with a knee issue again.

Returning to action included Bo Hodges (Butler), Kyle Young (Ohio State) and Rollie Worster (Utah State).

Playing through injuries were Darryl Morsell (Maryland) after aggravating his shoulder last game, and Connor McCaffery (Iowa) after an ankle injury last game.

Notables remaining out included Foster Loyer (Michigan State), Aaron Thompson (Butler), Thomas Allen (NC State), Luke Frampton (Western Kentucky), and Zane Meeks (Nevada).

In injury & other updates, Tomas Woldetensae (Virginia) will be available Monday, Luke Frampton (Western Kentucky) will be out again Monday, and teammate Josh Anderson is likely out. Javonte Perkins (Saint Louis) will return to the team next year to utilize his extra season.

On Saturday newly sitting out were Armaan Franklin (Indiana) after an ankle injury last game, Jahvon Blair (Georgetown) as a coach’s decision, Oscar Lopez (DePaul) with an ankle injury, Isaac Likekele (Oklahoma State) with a hand injury, Boston College’s CJ Felder (undisclosed) & Rich Kelly (foot, out season), Nijel Pack (Kansas State) with an eye infection, Jack Clark (La Salle) undisclosed, and Isaac Bonton (Washington State) with ankle issues again.

Returning to action included Nick Ongenda (DePaul), James Karnik & Frederick Scott (Boston College), Trae Hannibal (South Carolina), Justin Lewis (Marquette), Kerr Kriisa (Arizona), Trevor Anderson (Wisconsin), Clevon Brown (Vanderbilt), Antonio Gordon & Rudi Williams (Kansas State), Akok Akok (UConn), MJ Walker & Tanor Ngom (Florida State), David Johnson (Louisville), Mikael Jantunen (Utah), Jonathan Tchamwa Tchatchoua (Baylor), and Jaelen House (Arizona State).

Suffering in-game injuries were Vince Williams (VCU) who left the game in the 2nd half with a lower body injury and was seen icing his ankle, Josh Carlton (UConn) left in the 2nd half with an ankle injury, went to the locker room, did return to the bench area, Jamal Cain (Marquette) took a shot to the head later in the 2nd half and was helped off the court, Rasir Bolton (Iowa State) suffered an ankle injury in the first half and did not return, Malik Williams (Louisville) played but early in the second half it was announced he would not return as his foot injury flared up, Jeremy Sheppard (Rhode Island) sprained an ankle in the first half and came out of the locker room on crutches, and Rylan Jones (Utah) dove for a ball in the first half and appeared to aggravate his shoulder injury, came out for the 2nd half in a sling.

Notables remaining out included Ayo Dosunmu (Illinois), Sharife Cooper (Auburn), Jamarius Burton (Texas Tech), Bones Hyland & KeShawn Curry (VCU), Scotty Pippen (Vanderbilt), Liam Robbins (Minnesota), Oscar da Silva (Stanford), and Josh Christopher & Marcus Bagley (Arizona State).

In injury updates, Sharife Cooper (Auburn) is doubtful for Saturday, David Johnson (Louisville) is expected to play Saturday, Isaac Likekele (Oklahoma State) has been limited in practice with a hand injury, Ayo Dosunmu (Illinois) is out Saturday, Jack Nunge (Iowa) is out for the season with a knee injury, and Foster Loyer (Michigan State) sounds unlikely to play again this season.

On Friday newly sitting out were David DeJulius (Cincinnati) who has opted out, Zane Meeks (Nevada) with an ankle injury, and Markhi Strickland (Saint Louis) due to covid protocols.

Playing through injury was Grant Golden (Richmond) who wore a large brace on his left hand after a finger fracture last game.

Returning to action included Bryce Nze (Butler), Jermaine Couisnard (South Carolina), Josiah-Jordan James (Tennessee), Scott Spencer (La Salle), Chase Paar (George Washington), Ryan Murphy (Duquesne), Juwan Gary (Alabama), & Bryan Griffin (Xavier).

Suffering in-game injuries were Alexis Yetna (South Florida) who suffered a left ankle injury in the first half and returned to the bench area in the second half with a boot. Malik Osborne (Florida State) had to be assisted off the court with what was described in postgame as a rolled ankle.

On Monday newly sitting out were Jamarius Burton (Texas Tech) with a toe tendon injury, and Isaiah Mobley (USC) with a strained calf muscle.

Returning to action was Isaac Likekele (Oklahoma State) after missing two games with foot issues.

In injury updates, Bones Hyland (VCU) is out Tuesday, Noah Fernandes & Tre Mitchell (UMass) are expected to play, Tomas Woldetensae (Virginia) will remain out Wednesday, Foster Loyer (Michigan State) is out again Tuesday, Josh Nickelberry (Louisville) is not expected to play Tuesday, Marcus Bagley (Arizona State) is a gametime decision Tuesday while teammates Josh Christopher sounds doubtful and Jalen Graham missed practice with a migraine.

Jalen Cone (Virginia Tech) and Greg Williams (St John’s) are probable for Tuesday, and for Utah Rylan Jones sounds doubtful for Thursday while Mikael Jantunen is quarantining after returning from playing with the national team of Finland, but unclear when he will Finnish quarantine (haha, terrible, I know).

CBB Injuries & Updates from Sun. February 21

On Sunday newly sitting out were Butler’s Aaron Thompson (thumb, shoulder) and Bo Hodges (calf), Musa Jallow (Ohio State) with an ankle injury last game, Ralph Agee (San Jose State), Dieonte Miles (Xavier) with knee issues, and Matthew Moyer, Chase Paar & Sloan Seymour (George Washington) for undisclosed reasons after a long team pause (covid-related?).

Returning to action included Jamison Battle (George Washington), Michael Durr (South Florida), and Sam Mennenga, Luka Brajkovic & Nelson Boachie-Yiadom (Davidson).

Making season debuts were Daniel Ramsey (Xavier) after missing most of last season and all of this season so far with injuries and Walt McGrory (Wisconsin) after hip surgery.

Suffering in-game injuries were Darryl Morsell (Maryland) who left the game in the first half grabbing his shoulder, went to the locker room, and quickly returned to the game wearing a shoulder sleeve, then left again with 4 minutes left in the second half, in postgame it was confirmed it partially popped out twice and he will see a specialist. Dominick Welch (St Bonaventure) left the game in the first half with an ankle issue, was seen riding a bike on the sideline and was able to return to the game. Jacob Young (Rutgers) landed awkwardly on his leg and stayed down for a while in the final minute of the game.

Notables remaining out included Damian Dunn (Temple), Bryce Nze (Butler) Trevor Anderson (Wisconsin) and Bryan Griffin (Xavier).

In injury updates, after not playing today Trevor Anderson (Wisconsin) was called day to day, as was Dieonte Miles (Xavier). Bryan Griffin (Xavier) will be back next game.

Returning to action included Ryan Daly (St Joe’s), Jordan Bruner (Alabama), Jeremiah Tilmon (Missouri), Justin Minaya (South Carolina), Charlie Moore & Oscar Lopez (DePaul), Eric Williams (Oregon), Khadim Sy (Ole Miss), Anthony Harris (UNC), Maceo Austin (Duquesne), Aguek Arop (San Diego State), Ebenezer Dowuona (NC State), and Jermaine Hamlin (Illinois).

Late in their game Louisville’s Dre Davis got banged up and was reported as having a thigh bruise. Leaving their games for a time but returning to action included Darius Days (LSU), and Michael Hughes (Duquesne).
